Hosta ‘Bullfrog’ was introduced by NWHS co-founder and noted hosta judge Walter L. Hoover. Bullfrog is a sport of H. ‘Krossa Regal’ with a slow growth rate and moderately twisted leaf appearance (see full characteristics in the Hosta Treasury). Unfortunately, this is one of those hostas that cannot be mass produced through tissue culture and can only be acquired through plant division. At the 2022 AHS Convention, a division of Bullfrog sold for $450.00. Walter passed away Dec. 2, 2020 at age 85, about a year after attending a NWHS holiday party.
